BALFOR
R700 Shark
The PTO-driven R700 Shark saw bench is the result of careful research and decades of experience in manufacturing professional saws. This powerful and reliable tilting saw bench is capable of cutting logs up to approximately 30 cm in diameter. It also provides excellent visibility of the cutting area and smooth log handling for safer operation.
The rocking bed design with rollers allows logs to be moved easily into position, while the durable tungsten-tipped 70mm blade delivers fast, consistent cutting. With a strong powder-coated frame and high-quality components, the Shark 700 is built to handle demanding workloads season after season.
The Shark 700 saw bench is ideal for farm firewood preparation, lifestyle properties, and small-scale firewood production.
BALFOR
R700 Shark Expert
The Shark 700 Expert takes the performance of the Shark saw bench and adds an integrated log conveyor system, making it much easier to move cut firewood away from the cutting area.
The machine includes a 40 cm wide conveyor with three hydraulic extensions, allowing the belt to extend to around 4 metres for efficient firewood handling and stacking. When folded away, the conveyor remains compact for transport and storage.
The Shark Expert and Expert Pro come with adjustable CAT 1 & 2 3-point linkage and only need a 25HP tractor to run them.
This model is ideal for operators who want to increase productivity when cutting larger volumes of firewood.
BALFOR
R700 Shark Expert PRO
The Shark 700 Expert Pro is a complete cutting and splitting solution, combining the Shark saw bench, conveyor system, and a powerful hydraulic log splitter in one machine.
This model includes a 16-ton hydraulic splitter with multiple wedge options (2-, 4-, and 6-way) to quickly split logs after cutting. The splitter folds away for transport, allowing the machine to remain compact when not in use.
By combining cutting, conveying, and splitting in a single workflow, the Expert Pro dramatically improves firewood production efficiency.
This model is ideal for commercial firewood businesses and high-volume firewood processing operations.

Frequently Asked Questions
What tractor setup do I need to run a Balfor Shark saw bench?
What PTO speed should I run it at?
The Shark R700 manual specifies a maximum PTO speed of 350 rpm, and notes running the tractor at a lower engine speed to achieve that PTO speed. This is worth checking on your tractor, as many PTOs are commonly referenced at 540 rpm.
Can I cut consistent firewood lengths, and what log lengths suit a saw bench?
Yes. The manual references a cutting length adjustment device to help you set repeatable cut lengths, and lists a log length range of roughly 500 mm to 2000 mm, with a minimum cutting length around 120 to 125 mm depending on model.
Do I need tractor hydraulics for the conveyor and splitter models?
If you choose an Expert or Expert Pro style setup with a conveyor, it is typically powered by the tractor’s auxiliary hydraulics. Splitter equipped models also rely on hydraulics for splitting and wedge operation.
What safety gear and precautions should I plan for?
Plan for hearing protection, eye protection, and dust protection. Keep guards in place, avoid cleaning or adjustments while anything is moving, and use proper lockout before maintenance. WorkSafe highlights noise and dust risks around circular saw benches, and the Shark manual reinforces single operator use and safe cleaning practices.
