Hedge Cutter
The MJ39 Hedge Cutter head delivers a clean, professional finish on hedgerows, shrubs, and verges at high speeds thanks to its rotary head with blender-style mulching. Powered by a robust gearbox driveline, twin rotors with eight overlapping blades thin dense vegetation or clear scrub in a single pass, making it ideal for contractors, councils, and landscape operators.
MJ39 Hedge Cutter Features
Drives twin rotors with eight blades for fast, efficient cutting and shredding.
Overrun clutch safeguards the hydraulic motor, requiring 80–110 L/min flow at up to 170 bar.
Fewer wearing parts than flail heads reduce downtime and operational costs.
Strenx® components provide durability while keeping the attachment lightweight.
Hardox® skids ensure abrasion resistance and smooth movement over rough terrain.
Full-length roller limits scalping on verges and can be lifted for hedge cutting.
Set from 40–100 mm for precise trimming of hedges and verges.
Hydraulic or manual adjustment regulates how much material enters the cutting chamber.

Durable, Low-Maintenance Performance
Built for productivity, the MJ39 requires minimal maintenance compared to flail systems. Fewer wearing parts reduce downtime and operational costs, while the hydraulic overrun clutch protects the system during operation. The heavy-duty 1.43m deck easily handles overgrown hedges and scrubby areas.
Precision Cutting and Safe Operation
Adjustable rollers control cutting height from 40mm–100mm, and the front hood regulates material flow. Deep deck sides keep mulch in the hedgerow, while the contained cutting chamber reduces debris projection for roadside and property-adjacent work. Made from Strenx® 700MC steel with Hardox® skids, the MJ39 Hedge Cutter is strong, lightweight, and fits 10–14 tonne 360 excavators used across New Zealand.

"Kinder to the hedge"
The Major Hedge cutter head is kinder to the hedge as it cuts the vegetation, rather than hammering it into shape. We get a better finish in fewer passes, saving time and fuel. There is a higher output than a traditional flail head and it also manages heavier growth more efficiently.
